  16.     GhostRider (GR) is tool for viewing/changing memory contents in
  17.     different formats (hex/ascii/disassembly). Also it is possible to do
  18.     program debugging independant of the system resources, i.e. in
  19.     demos/games.  This type of tool is called a monitor (remnant from the
  20.     C64). GR features most "standard" functions, but also many things not
  21.     normally found in this type of software.

  32. DESCRIPTION

  34.     GhostRider is a new monitor written in pure assembler. The most
  35.     important difference between GR and other monitors of this kind is that
  36.     GR is build up from scratch - not a (simple) modification of some old
  37.     CON-based monitor. Before starting this project I tried to figure out
  38.     what single feature of a monitor is more important. Since a monitor is
  39.     to be used by many different people, I decided that the most important
  40.     feature would be the ability of configuration according to the user's
  41.     needs. Therefore GR comes with a preference editor which will allow
  42.     you, the user, to configure the "feel" of GR... See below for a list of
  43.     some of the features in GhostRider:
  44.  
  45.     - Works on all (well, most :) Amigas; AGA, ECS, NTSC, PAL,
  46.       MC68ooo-MC68o4o/MMU/FPU.
  47.     - Does _NOT_ rely on the system to be around.
  48.     - Fast screen handling. You may define custom screen types. By default
  49.       the following modes are supported: PAL/NTSC lace/non-lace and
  50.       productivity.
  51.     - Powerfull input parser, support use of symbols.
  52.     - Copper-list locater.
  53.     - System, NMI, generic, reset (also GURU) & BreakPoint entry modes.
  54.     - Text snapping/pasting with the mouse.
  55.     - Full dis/assembler support for the M68k family (well, not the 'o6o).
  56.     - "Standard" block dump as well as editor environments for
  57.       disassembling, HEX-viewing, ASCII-viewing and Memory-Peeking
  58.       (bitmap). You may of course also change the memory contents in all
  59.       formats but bitmap.
  60.     - Memory hunt featuring; long strings, jokers (wildcards), NOT-data,
  61.       case(in)-sensitive text hunt, branch hunt and PC-relative hunt.
  62.     - Memory fill featuring; long strings and jokers.
  63.     - Breakpoint support.
  64.     - Full control of CustomRegister contents at exit.
  65.     - Results from hunt/compare operations are kept in a buffer for fast and
  66.       easy access.
  67.     - Capable of resuming (some) interrupted commands.
  68.     - Disk system with UN*X like parsing of path.
  69.     - Includes system interface (ghostrider.library) which allow usage in
  70.       your own programs (for easy debugging).
  71.     - Online help screens for quick reference to available key shortcuts

  88. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  90.     GhostRider should run on all systems, but the DeckRunner and Preference
  91.     Editor require Kickstart 2.04+ (V37+). No additional hardware is
  92.     required to run GhostRider.
